Portrait photography in the studio or on location – Buckinghamshire and Berkshire

How much is a portrait sitting?

A studio sitting can last up to one hour depending on the willingness and co-operation of the subjects! The cost of a sitting in the studio, lasting up to one hour is £49.00. During the session you can have a variety of groupings, poses and even change your outfit if you wish.

Currently there is a SPECIAL OFFER that includes one 8″ x 6″ photo from the sitting, supplied in a presentation mount.

Can we book a sitting in our own home or the park?

A portrait session can be arranged in your own home or on location if you wish. Chris will bring portable lighting if required, but a studio type backdrop will NOT be set up as it is usually impractical, and often impossible, to move furniture to make enough space. Your living room or garden will be the backdrop!

Portraits in public places may require advance permission from the landowner or local council!

Packages for location portraits available from £195 and this price includes photographs to the value of £150.

How many pictures will you take?

There is no set number of photos taken on a portrait sitting. Chris will take a variety of shots which will be discussed prior to the shoot. The actual number of photos taken can often be determined by the willingness of subjects to co-operate, within the allocated time!! (think….. 2 year-olds and teenagers!!)

What should we wear?

It depends on the style of portrait you want. Most of our portraits are shot in a casual, relaxed style which is best suited to chinos, jeans, casual shirts etc. Plain-ish clothing is preferred. Items to avoid are bold patterns, stripes or spots. Strong flowery designs may be in fashion at the time of your shoot, but will very quickly date your portrait and are also very dominating in a picture.

Formal portraits can also be undertaken; please let us know when you book.

Can we have black & white?

Any image may be printed in Colour, Black & White or Sepia – at no extra cost.

How will we see the images after the photo-shoot?

The images are usually ready to view within 3-5 days of the sitting. They are projected onto a large screen in the studio so a number of people can view together. The images can be shown in different sizes so you can visualise how they look in various frames. The viewing software allows us to put together triples and other multiple sets. Comparing colour and black & white, side-by-side, is another popular feature. We encourage you to bring everyone who might like a photo to the initial viewing to take advantage of “1st viewing Special Offers”.

Can we arrange a 2nd viewing for relatives?

Additional viewings may be arranged at an additional fee of £50.00. However, this £50.00 is fully redeemable against any orders placed at the viewing, but it must be paid at time of arranging the appointment.

Can we view our portrait photographs on the internet?

Portraits are not normally put online for viewing as it is not possible to show all the different options available or discuss selective cropping/frames etc. In exceptional circumstances, a shortlist of images may be put online, perhaps if some of the family live a long distance away, once the initial viewing has taken place. There is an upload charge for this service, deductable from an additional order.

Can we buy digital images?

Yes of course. High-resolution digital files may be purchased & downloaded £35.00 per image, with a minimum order of 6 images in each order. A personal licence with permission to print and share is included. Commercial clients requiring images digitally, please contact us for details/rates. Headshot Packages.

Do you take passport photos?

We take passport photos guaranteed to meet UK passport strict criteria, but do not offer an instant service. A set of 4 copies of the same image can take up to 5 working days. Price £15.

Visa photos can also be taken and usually at the same price depending on the criteria of the specific embassy.

Will you 'Photoshop' our photos?

Digital re-touching of minor spots or skin blemishes may be carried out free of charge at our discretion.

Requests for manipulation of images, such as, teeth whitening, removal of tattoos, spot colour on a Black and White images, or adding text, will incur a labour charge depending on the complexity of the work required. Each image will be assessed individually, and quoted for accordingly. The manipulation cost is a one-off fee per image; additional copies may be purchased at normal reprint prices.

Whilst we aim to please, we reserve the right to decline manipulation orders.

Do you hold a CRB certificate?

Chris holds an Enhanced Certificate from the DBS (formerly CRB).

When do we pay for our order?

Every image is printed to order and obviously can only be sold to you, so orders are only accepted with full payment at the viewing appointment.

Do you take credit cards?

Preferred methods of payment are DEBIT card or bank transfer.

Cash and most credit/debit cards are accepted. We regret we do not accept cheques or American Express.
