Wedding Photography Questions
Commonly asked questions are answered here but Chris will be more than happy to discuss any queries you may have in relation to your wedding photography or engagement portrait. Simply pick up the phone, send an email or arrange an appointment in the studio.
How many photos will you take?
Every wedding is different so we like to work without restrictions. We don’t promise a minimum number of photos taken, and we don’t limit a maximum.
There are also several factors that contribute to how many images are taken, such as coverage option booked, time allowed for photography, willingness and availability of subjects on the day, the package chosen, the weather, and the number of requested groups on the ‘must have’ list!
The highlighted reasons are the biggest factors in how many photos you will have to choose from.
How many photographers do you employ?
When you book with us, you are booking Chris Hill as your photographer. All the images on this website and any albums you are shown will have been taken by Chris. This ensures you are seeing the samples of the actual photographer attending your wedding, and not seeing the best work but getting a less experienced operator on the day. Chris prefers to work as sole photographer so he knows exactly what has, and has not, been captured, rather than assuming a 2nd shooter has covered something that they may actually have missed! Chris occasionally has an assistant, but not usually a 2nd photographer.
A second photographer can be arranged subject to his availability. He is a wedding photographer in his own right (rather than the photographers wife/husband with a camera, which is often the case) and his fees will be charged accordingly.
How many weddings have you photographed?
By the time we got to 500+ weddings several years ago, we stopped counting! Chris has been a professional wedding photographer since 1988. The true figure is probably approaching four figures.
We only need a photographer for a couple of hours, do you offer that?
Coverage up to 2 hours may be booked for small, mid-week weddings.
Weekend weddings can be booked from as little as 3 hours coverage.
Can we have Black & White?
Any image may be printed in Colour, Black & White or Sepia – at no extra cost. You can decide once you have seen the previews.
How will we see the images after the wedding?
After returning from honeymoon, you are invited to view your wedding as a slideshow in the studio. After the slideshow, we can answer any questions you might have. You will be supplied with watermarked* images on a disc to enable you to choose your favourites for your orders/album. For online gallery, see below. *The proofs are not watermarked if digital images are included in your package.
Will our images be on the Internet
An online gallery via the Client Area of this website is included in all packages. A password is required to access your gallery. We also have Blog and Facebook pages where a few of your images may be posted if you have given permission (on the booking form), for your wedding photos to be displayed. These areas are available for public viewing without a password.
Do we get digital images on a disc?
The Storybook package includes all images on disc. There is a disc only service available. The disc may be purchased as an extra on other packages.
Can we add extra pages in our album?
Most wedding albums can have from 12 pages (24 sides) up to 30 pages (60 sides). Additional parent albums from 6 pages upwards.
Digital retouching and manipulation?
Digital re-touching of minor spots or non-permanent skin blemishes may be carried out free of charge at our discretion.
Digital manipulation of images, such as removing tattoos, or colouring flowers on a Black and White image, will incur a labour charge depending on the complexity of the work required. Each image will be assessed individually, and quoted for accordingly. The manipulation cost is a one-off fee per image; additional copies may be purchased at normal reprint prices. Whilst we aim to please, we reserve the right to decline manipulation orders.
Do you stay for the first dance?
The Storybook package includes coverage from bridal preparations to first dance as standard. On other packages, there are options to continue coverage until the end of the speeches or extend further until the first dance.
How far will you travel?
Weddings are covered nationwide with travelling and accommodation costs added where applicable. However, the majority of weddings covered are within a 25-mile radius of the studio and travelling costs are included within this area. Due to the impractical nature of travelling on public transport with valuable equipment, London and other inner city weddings will be subject to congestion charges, parking fees and taxi fares where applicable.
Do we need to feed you?
If coverage is continuing beyond the wedding breakfast, refreshment is always appreciated when provided, but certainly not considered ‘expected’.
What else you offer?
There are many additional extras available on the “Just Married” price list that is provided when you collect your previews. Items include: DVD slideshow, parent albums, coffee table books, mini pocket books, framed prints, multi image frames, canvas wraps, acrylic wall portraits, thank you cards, calendars, double and triple portfolios. Other products may be sourced on request.
What do YOU wear at a wedding?
Chris always dresses formally, usually shirt, tie & waistcoat.
What should we call you?
Not actually frequently asked, but initially some awkwardness can be sensed occasionally so just thought it should be in the FAQs!
Christopher is the name of the company and the name his mother gave him, but Chris prefers to be called just that… Chris.
How do you accept payment?
Preferred methods of payment are bank transfer or DEBIT card.
Cash, cheques and most major credit and debit cards are accepted. We regret we do not accept American Express.
